About Sitalkuchi Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Situated in the Cooch Behar district and a part of the Cooch Behar (SC) Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency in West Bengal,
Sitalkuchi is a legislative assembly segment of the state. The legislative assembly seat of Sitalkuchi was won by Hiten Barman of AITC in the 2011 assembly elections with 84,651 votes. CPM's Biswanath Pramanik fell short of Barman by just 257 votes and settled with 84,394 ballots to his credit. A total of 2,43,607 people of the Sitalkuchi constituency were identified as eligible voters by the Election Commission of India in 2014. There are 1,29,313 male and 1,14,293 female voters in the constituency.

According to the recommendations made by the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008, the Sitalkuchi assembly segment consists of Shikarpur, Bairagirhat, Nayarhat, Gopalpur, Kursamari, Jorpatiki and Kedarhat gram panchayats of Mathabhanga-I community development block; and Sitalkuchi community development block.
