About Khardaha Assembly Constituency

Khardaha is constituency No. 109 of West Bengal legislative assembly. It is situated in North 24 Parganas district and comes under Dum Dum Lok Sabha constituency. Khardaha is an unreserved constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Khardaha constituency has 88,820 male, 80,841 female and a total of 1,69,661 registered voters.

In the landmark 2011 assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress secured a major victory from this seat. Khardaha had been a CPI(M) bastion since 1967. Amit Mitra, FICCI general secretary and the TMC candidate from this seat, bagged 83,608 votes. Mitra defeated his opponent, Asim Kumar Dasgupta of CPI(M), by a formidable margin of 26,154 votes. Dasgupta was among the 26 ministers of the Left Front government who lost in the 2011 elections. The voter turnout was 87.26 %.
