About Ramban Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Ramban is a town in the district by the same name of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also the headquarters of the district. As of 2001 India census, the town had a population of 8,128. The assembly constituency of Ramban belongs to Udhampur parliamentary constituency. The constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Castes. Ashok Kumar of INC won the 2008 assembly elections and is the present MLA. He defeated Sh. Bali Bhagat of BJP with a huge margin. Kumar bagged 21779 votes as against Bhagat's 11460 votes.
