About Reasi Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Reasi is a town situated on the bank of river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir. The town was earlier known as 'Rasyal'. It was founded by Raja Bhim Dev. As of 2011 India census, it had a population of 36,355. The assembly constituency of Reasi falls under Udhampur parliamentary constituency. In the 2008 assembly elections, it was for the first time that BJP won the seat. Baldev Raj of BJP defeated Jugal Kishore of INC, the winner of 2002 assembly elections. Raj bagged 26031 votes as against Kishore's 19369 votes.
