About Udhampur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency
Udhampur is a city in district of the same name in Jammu and Kashmir. It is the second largest city of Jammu. The city is named after Raja Udham Singh and also serves as the headquarters of Indian army. As of 2011 Indian census, it had a population of 1,82,778. The assembly constituency of Udhampur falls under Udhampur parliamentary constituency. Balwant Singh Mankotia of JKNPP won the 2008 assembly elections for the second consecutive time. He defeated Pawan Kumar Gupta of BJP. Mankotia secured 25259 votes as against Gupta's 22489 votes.
