About Poonch Haveli Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

The assembly constituency of Poonch Haveli lies on the line of control. The constituency went for by-elections in the year 2007. The seat was left vacant after the death of Ghulam Mohd Jan, the two-time winner from the constituency. Jahangir Hussain of INC won the bypolls. The constituency which belongs to Poonch district and a part of Jammu parliamentary constituency, again went for polls in 2008. But this time Ajaz Ahmed Jan of JKNC defeated the INC candidate.Jan secured 28297 votes.
