About Noorabad Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Noorabad is a village in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The assembly constituency of Noorabad belongs to Anantnag parliamentary constituency. The seat witnessed a tough fight between JKNC and PDP in the 2008 assembly elections. Abdul Aziz Zagar of PDP won the 2002 assembly elections and hoped to retain the seat for the second time also. But in the 2008 assembly elections he was defeated by Sakina Itoo of JKNC. Itoo secured 16240 votes as against Zagar's 11722 votes.
