About Bhaderwah Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Bhadarwah is a town in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Owing to its natural beauty, the town is referred to as 'mini Kashmir'. It is also known as 'Nagon ki bhoomi' meaning 'land of snakes'. The assembly constituency of Bhadarwah belongs to Udhampur parliamentary constituency. Ghulam Nabi Azad of INC won the 2008 assembly elections. But after his election to the Rajya Sabha he left the Bhadarwah seat. Hence bypolls were conducted in 2009. Md. Sharief Niaz of INC won the bypolls. He defeated Daleep Singh of BJP. Niaz secured 21966 votes as against Singh's 19219 votes.
