Medak Bye Elections

The by-polls in the Medak parliamentary constituency is a matter of prestige. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who won the LS elections from two seats of Medak and Gajwel, retained Gajwel and went onto become the CM of Telangana.

As soon as the EC announced the by-polls, many aspirants reached to CM for their nominations. They include TNGO's president Devi Prasad, owner of Soni Travels Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, close officer of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao S. Subhas Reddy, and a realtor from Siddipet Praveen Reddy. The speculations that state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy will also contest the elections were denied by the party. At the same time, whether TDP will contest the elections on its own or not is still a mystery.

Covering parts of the Medak district of the state of Telangana is a parliamentary constituency by the same name.
Medak is one of the 17 Lok Sabha seats which belong to this state. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Medak Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 6) were 1,389,721 of which 700,849 are females and 688,872 are males.
