  • The NDA government directed Bihar to lift its food grain quota between March and May from other states by August 31. Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Ramvilas Paswan told the media, “There is swelling public anger over non-distribution of subsidized foodgrain among the people for which the state government must arrange for lifting its quota for three months between March and May this year latest by August 31 and distribute the same among the beneficiaries without any further delay”.
  • Defence Ministry has cleared procurement proposal worth Rs. 21,000 crore. The aim is to promote the domestic production and research of military equipments. Besides, it cleared a project for the production of transport aircraft along with a tender worth Rs. 9,000 crore to provide five fleet support ships for the Indian Navy. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said, "There are many proposals in the pipeline for the defence forces, and on Saturday we have tried to expedite quite a few of them".
