Here are the highlights for Day 11 of Modi government

  • Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar called for "collective partnership of all stake holders" to protect the environment and ensure sustainable development.
  • Babulal Gaur, home minister in the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, came to the defence of Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav who are under fire in the Badaun rape case.
  • The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Chouhan Shivraj met Modi and presented a sapling to commemorate the ocassion of World Environment Day.
  • BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan is unanimously elected as the Lok Sabha Speaker. Her name was proposed by Modi, and seconded by BJP patriarch L.K. Advani and union Home Minister Rajnath Singh among many others.
  • Modi asks MPs to take part in the discussions in Parliament. He also advised them to work hard, study more and be prepared to raise issues.
  • Narendra Modi government is looking into the possibility of making the Yamuna river navigable to transport people and goods.
  • According to the reports, the Modi government is considering to replace Governors who were appointed by the UPA-II government.
  • According to the sources, 285 projects that were stalled, with investments worth over Rs 16 lakh crore could soon be cleared by the Modi government. These projects are in the field of energy - power, coal and petroleum.
  • As per the reports, the government is likely to hike natural gas rates from July 1. This will happen after a new price formulation is approved by the Cabinet.

  • PM Narendra Modi today received a formal invitation from Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe. According to the sources, Modi is likely to visit Japan in July.
