  • PM Narendra Modi today reached on a day-long visit to Ladakh. He inaugurated the 45 MW Nimoo-Bazgo hydroelectric power project located at Alchi village and 44 MW hydro power project at Chutak village, besides inaugurating the Leh-Srinagar transmission line, hydro power project in Leh. In his address, he said that unlike other Prime Ministers, he has already visited Jammu and Kashmir twice. He also unveiled a three P formula for the Leh-Ladakh: "Prakash, Paryavaran and Paryatan". While addressing soldiers at Leh, he condemned the “continuing proxy war by Pakistan”. He said, “Neighbouring country has lost the strength to fight a conventional war, but continues to engage in the proxy war of terrorism". He added that the Indian military is suffering more because of casualties from terrorism than from war. While addressing a public meeting at Bimathang playground in Kargil town, he said, "When I came here in 1999, all one could hear was the sound of the guns as guns were booming all around. Today I am only hearing clapping of hands. People in other parts of the country would find it hard to believe the situation has changed so much in Kargil." "My solution to problems of Jammu and Kashmir state and the Northeast is development, development and development," he added.
  • BJP Chief Amit Shah, who was ratified as the chief of the party last week, is likely to announce his team members soon. The team is expected to be finalised ahead of Assembly elections in the states of Jharkhand, J&K, Maharashtra and Haryana. According to sources, his new team will have young people and women also. Some of the prominent leaders on the tentative list are Rajiv Pratap Rudy, J. P. Nadda, Bhupendra Yadav, Capt. Abhimanyu, Ram Madhav and Varun Gandhi.
  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today told the Supreme Court that in the Aircel, Maxis deal it would be filing chargesheet against former Telecom Minister by the end of this month. It said that the chargesheet would be based on evidence procured within the country. Appearing for the CBI, senior counsel K.K. Venugopal said, "We have problem about Malaysia. For the last two years they are asking proof of criminality. They even wrote a strongly worded letter to our ambassador pointing to the various statements being made in India".
  • Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Rajya Sabha that the NDA government is ready for a dialogue to resolve the issue pertaining to Kashmir. He said that the government can have dialogue “within the framework of humanity”. He said, ““We want to find a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. We are ready for any kind of dialogue within the constitutional framework... If necessary, we are even willing to hold a dialogue within the framework of humanity... We will not use any agent for resolving the issue, we will do everything to resolve it with the cooperation of the state government”.
  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will quickly start an "e-health care service", which will be a web portal to address people about health-related programme. The aim of this service will be to intensify health awareness in rural India. At the Northern Region Conclave on NextGen Health care, Jagdish Prasad, director general (DG) health services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said, “The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already prepared the white paper of the "e-health care service" which will be a boost to raise awareness among the people in the country, who remain completely deprived of the health services initiated by the government".
