Which state goes to assembly elections 2018 next?



Here are the highlights for Day 28 of the Modi government : 

  • Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, who has hogged the limelight for taking up social issues, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 49-year-old actor’s ‘Satyamev Jayate’ serial dealt with serious problems facing the Indian society. The actor later said the Prime Minister assured him that he would look into the issues raised by him.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, in its meeting held in Parliament House decided that the Budget session of Parliament will be held from July 7 to August 14 and the first General Budget of the Narendra Modi government will be presented on July 10.
  • The Railway Budget will be presented on July 8, while the Economic Survey will be released on July 9.
  • The CCPA decided that bills to replace ordinances, including the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities (Amendment) Ordinance, the one on Polavaram project, the TRAI Act (Amendment) Ordinance and the one on SEBI, will be brought on a priority basis for consideration in the session
  • Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar asserted that the job of the government is not to create roadblocks but to give impetus to entrepreneurship and industry, while addressing representatives of the media and entertainment sector at an event organised by Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in Delhi. He said both the government and industry should work together for the welfare of the consumers.
  • The Narendra Modi government is reported to have allowed greater and easier access of all its nuclear facilities to global watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency. It made the decision, despite expressing some reservations, under the nuclear deal sealed by the previous Congress-led government.
  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government will get in touch with Switzerland and seek details of Indians having unaccounted money in Swiss banks.
  • Union HRD minister Smriti Irani met University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Ved Prakash over the issue of four-year undergraduate programme of the Delhi University.
  • The Modi government raises import duty on sugar.
