About Wani Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Wani is a city in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. It was earlier referred to as 'Wun'. The city is famous as Black Diamond City. As of 2011 India census, it had a population of 213,668. The assembly constituency of Wani belongs to Chandrapur parliamentary constituency. The seat has mostly been occupied by INC. Kasawar Wamanrao Bapurao of INC won the 2009 assembly elections and is the current MLA.He defeated Vishwas Ramchandra Nandekar of SHS, the 2002 assembly elections winner. Bapurao secured 55666 votes as against Nandekar's 45226 votes.
