About Bishrampur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

One of the administrative blocks of the Palamu district, the assembly constituency of Bishrampur belongs to Palamu parliamentary constituency. The seat which was occupied by RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) was taken over by INC (Indian National Congress) in 2009 assembly elections. Chandrashekhar Dubey of INC won the 2009 elections and is the present MLA. He defeated Ramchandra Chandravanshi of RJD, the last time winner with a huge margin. Dubey bagged 25609 votes as against Chandravanshi's 17257 votes. It had a population of 104,983 as per 2011 India census.
