About Vaijapur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Formerly known as Baizapur, it is a city in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. The assembly constituency of Vaijapur has been occupied by SHS since 1999. R.M. Wani won the 2009 assembly elections by defeating his nearest rival Patil Bhausaheb Ramrao, an independent candidate. Wani bagged 51379 votes as against Ramrao's 50154 votes. The constituency had a population of 311,371 as per 2011 census and falls under Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency.
