About Tumsar Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Tumsar is a city in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra. The city is also known as Rice Nagri. As of 2011 India census, the city had a population of 226,108. The assembly constituency of Tumsar is a part of Bhandara-Gondiya parliamentary constituency. Kukde Madhukar Yashawantrao of BJP won the three consecutive assembly elections of 1995, 1999 and 2004. But he was defeated in the 2009 assembly elections by Bawankar Anil Fattu of INC. Fattu secured 66557 votes as against Yashawantrao's 59940 votes.
