About Kaliaganj Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A part of the Raiganj Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency, Kaliaganj is a legislative assembly segment in the state of West Bengal. It is located in the Uttar Dinajpur district of the state. As per the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India - 2008, the Kaliaganj assembly constituency comprises Birghai and Barua gram panchayats of Raiganj community development block; Kaliaganj Municipal corporation; and Kaliaganj community development block. There are 2,32,714 eligible voters in the Kaliaganj assembly segment, out of whom 1,21,999 are males and 1,10,709 are females. The Kaliaganj legislative assembly state of West Bengal is currently held by INC's Pramatha Nath Ray, who accounted for 84,873 votes and won the seat in the assembly elections held in 2011. Nani Gopal Roy of CPM managed 77,583 votes and settled as the runner-up. Only the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) are entitled to contest the Kaliaganj legislative assembly seat of West Bengal.
