About Itahar Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Itahar is a legislative assembly constituency in the Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal. It belongs to the Balurghat Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the state. As per the universal adult franchise, the Election Commission of India identified a total of 1,92,438 people of the Itahar assembly segment as eligible voters, out of whom 1,00,764 are men and 91,672 are women. The Itahar assembly constituency of West Bengal consists of Itahar community development block as recommended by the Delimitation Commission of India in 2008. Itahar is represented in the West Bengal state legislative assembly by Amal Acharjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC). Acharjee got 61,707 votes and won the seat in the assembly elections held in the state in 2011. CPI's Srikumar Mukherjee managed to get 54,655 votes and settled as the runner-up.
