About Bally Assembly Constituency
Bally is constituency No. 169 of West Bengal legislative assembly. This unreserved constituency is located in Howrah district. It is a part of the Lok Sabha constituency No. 25 which is Howrah.
According to the Election Commission of India, Bally constituency has 1,42,634 registered voters, out of which 79,639 are male, and 62,995 are female voters.
In the landmark assembly elections of 2011, Bally constituency saw a tough fight between the two main contenders, Trinamool Congress (TMC) and CPI(M). Sultan Singh of TMC won this seat by a slim margin of 6,600 votes. He defeated Kanika Ganguly of CPI(M). It was an important win because TMC won this seat for the first time. Bally constituency had been a CPI(M) stronghold since 1991. While Sultan Singh bagged 52,770 votes, Kanika Ganguly got 46,170. The voter turnout was 73.78%.
