In 2009 Election Results the UPA won around 261 out of 543 seats, and in the second position was NDA with 158 seats, while 23 seats were won by Left parties.

In 2014 Election Results the BJP won 282 seats out of 543 seats. This took the NDA tally to 336 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. INC could only manage to win 44 seats and stayed in the second position while AIADMK party from Tamil Nadu came third with 37 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

In 2019, the BJP is set to return to power at the Centre after a sweeping win in the 2019 Lok Sabha election , armed with a bigger mandate than in the 2014 General Election. The party - led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah duo has secured 303 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, the Congress, the main Opposition party, managed to increase its vote share from 2014 only by a handful of votes, with a final tally of 52 seats. There will be no Leader of Opposition in the upcoming Lower House for a second consecutive term.

Badaun Lok Sabha Elections and Results 2014


Badaun Lok Sabha Constituency is one of 80 parliamentary constituencies of the state of Uttar Pradesh which came into existence prior to the 1952 elections. According to Election Commission of India 2009 data the total electorates in the Badaun Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 23) were 1,405,695 of which 628,082 are females and 777,613 are males. It comprises of five Vidhan Sabha segments of which one is reserved for the SC category. The city of Badaun is the district headquarters of the Badaun District. It is a part of the Bareilly Division. The district of Badaun comprises of 6 tehsils and covers an area of 5,168 sq km. Hindi is the official language.

As per 2011 census data, Badaun District has a population of 3,681,896 with male population of 1,967,759 and female population of 1,714,137. Over the decade 2001-2011, the population growth rate was 19.95% and the population density here is 712 people per sq km. The sex ratio here is 871 females per 1000 males and 18.06% of the total population comprises of children below the age of six. The average literacy rate of Badaun is below the national average at just 51.29% with male literacy at 61% and female literacy rate of 40.09%. It is one of the 250 most backward districts of the country and receives financial aid from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme. The National Highway NH-93, the State Highways SH-18, SH-33, SH-43 and SH-51 pass through the district.
