About Unnao Assembly Constituency

Unnao is constituency No. 165 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly which comprises a total of 403 assembly constituencies. It is situated in Unnao district between the important cities of Lucknow and Kanpur. It is part of the Lok Sabha constituency that goes by the same name. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Unnao has 3,17,227 registered voters. It comprises 1,76,633 male and 1,40,594 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party (SP) defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by 10,145 votes to win this seat. Deepak Kumar, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 61,695 votes. BJP candidate Pankaj Gupta, the nearest contender, got 51,550 votes. The voter turnout was 57.45%.
