Mirzapur is constituency No. 396 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. It is situated in Mirzapur district in the eastern fringe of the state. It comes under the Mirzapur Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Mirzapur has 3,35,079 registered voters. It comprises 1,88,628 male and 1,46,397 female registered voters besides 54 voters in the Others category.

In the 2012 Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party won this constituency by 22,299 votes. Kailash Nath Chaurasiya, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 69,099 votes. The nearest contender was Rang Nath Mishra of Bahujan Samaj Party who got 46,800 votes. The voter turnout was 56.48 %.
