About Ghazipur Assembly Constituency

Ghazipur is constituency No. 375 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. The state of Uttar Pradesh has 403 assembly constituencies. The assembly constituency is situated in Ghazipur district and comes under Ghazipur Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 3,04,680 registered voters. It comprises 1,65,515 male and 1,39,160 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party defeated its nearest rival, the Bahujan Samaj Party, by a margin of just 241 votes to win this constituency. Vijay Kumar Mishra, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 49,561 votes. BSP candidate Raj Kumar, the nearest contender, got 49,320 votes. The voter turnout was 61.59 %.
