About Azamgarh Assembly Constituency

Azamgarh is constituency No. 347 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. It is situated in Azamgarh district and comes under Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Azamgarh has a total of 3,41,273 registered voters. It comprises 1,89,034 male and 1,52,220 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party won this constituency by a formidable margin of 31,441 votes. Durga Prasad Yadav, the winning Samajwadi Party candidate, got 93,629 votes. The nearest contender was Sarvesh Singh Sipu of Bahujan Samaj Party who got 62,188 votes. The voter turnout was 54.45 %.
