Allahabad West is constituency No. 261 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly.
It belongs to Allahabad district which is situated in Upper Doab region of the state. It comes under the Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.
According to data with the Election Commission of India, Allahabad West has 3,42,693 registered voters. It comprises 1,91,187 male and 1,51,495 female registered voters besides 11 voters in the Others category.
The BSP won this constituency by 8,885 votes in the 2012 Assembly elections. Pooja Pal, the winning BSP candidate, got 71,114 votes. The nearest contender was Atiq Ahamad of Apna Dal who got 62,229 votes. Pooja Pal is the widow of Raju Pal who was allegedly murdered by Atiq Ahamad. The voter turnout was 51.74 %.
