There are 45,993 voters in the constituency of which 43,534 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 94.65%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 94.09% Hindus, 4.37% Muslims and 0.99% Christians.

Sushanta Chowdhury candidate belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat in last election defeating Manik Dey of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) by 3,890 Votes.
