About Alangulam Assembly Constituency

Alangulam is constituency No. 223 of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. It is situated in Tirunelveli district and comes under the Tirunelveli Lok sabha constituency. It is an unreserved constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Alangulam has 2,03,826 registered voters. It comprises 1,00,445 male and 1,03,381 female registered voters.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, the AIADMK won this seat by a margin of just 299 votes. The winning AIADMK candidate, P. G. Rajendran, secured 78,098 votes. His nearest contender was Poongothai Aladi Aruna of DMK who got 77,799 votes. The voter turnout was 81.04 %.
