Jirang assembly constituency is in the Ribhoi district of Meghalaya State. There are 35,915 voters in the constituency of which 30,193 voters voted in the last election making the voting to around 84.07%. The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 79.3% Christians, 19.61% Hindus and 0.27% Muslims.
Sosthenes Sohtun candidate belonging to National People's Party won the seat in last election defeating Witness Day Sancley of Indian National Congress by 220 Votes.
