About Wadakkanchery Assembly Constituency

Wadakkanchery is constituency No. 65 of Kerala legislative assembly. It is situated in Thrissur district. While Wadakkanchery is an open assembly constituency, the corresponding Lok Sabha constituency Alathur is reserved for scheduled castes (SC).

According to the Election Commission of India, this assembly constituency has 1,76,069 registered voters. It comprises 83,270 male and 92,799 female registered voters.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, the Congress won this seat by a margin of 6,685 votes. C.N. Balakrishnan, the winning Congress candidate, got 67,911 votes. CPI(M) nominee N.R. Balan was the runner-up with 61,226 votes. The voter turnout was 79.08 %.
