About Palakkad Assembly Constituency

Palakkad is constituency No. 56 of Kerala legislative assembly. It is situated in Palakkad district and comes under the Lok Sabha constituency that goes by the same name. Palakkad is an unreserved constituency.

According to the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 1,54,374 registered voters. It comprises 75,498 male and 78,876 female registered voters.

In the 2011 assembly elections, INC candidate Shafi Parambil won this seat by a narrow margin of 7,403 votes. Shafi secured 47,641 votes. K.K. Divakaran of CPI(M) was the nearest contender with 40,238 votes. The voter turnout was 72.80 %.
