About Nirsa Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A town in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, Nirsa had a population of 1,550,903 as per 2012 India census. The assembly constituency of Nirsa falls under Dhanbad parliamentary constituency. The seat is occupied by MCO. Arup Chatterjee won the 2009 assembly elections. He defeated Ashok Kumar Mandal of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) with a huge margin. Chatterjee bagged 68965 votes as against Mandal's 33388 votes.
