About Manika Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A city in the Latehar district of Jharkhand, the assembly constituency of Manika belongs to Chatra parliamentary constituency. The seat is represented by BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). It was earlier occupied by RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal). Harikrishna Singh of BJP won the 2009 assembly elections and is the present MLA. He defeated Rameshwar Oraon of INC. Singh bagged 18645 votes as against Oraon's 16876 votes. Situated on the border of the district, the city had a population of 88,095 in 2011.
