About Maheshpur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A town in the tehsil by the same name, Maheshpur had a population of 208,862 as per 2011 India census. Reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, the assembly constituency of Maheshpur falls under Rajmahal parliamentary constituency. The seat has been occupied by JMM since 2005. Mistri Soren won the 2009 assembly elections. He defeated Devidhan Tudu of BJP with a huge margin. Soren bagged 50746 votes as against Tudu's 28772 votes. The constituency falls under Pakur district of Jharkhand.
