About Chhatarpur Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the assembly constituency of Chhatarpur is represented by JD(U) (Janata Dal - united) since 2005. Sudha Choudhary won the assembly elections of 2009. She defeated her nearest rival Manoj Kumar of JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha). Choudhary bagged 25854 votes as against Kumar's 16108 votes. Located in Palamu district of Jharkhand, the assembly constituency belongs to Palamu parliamentary constituency. As per 2011, the city had a population of 147,459.
