Mapusa is constituency No. 5 of Goa legislative assembly. It is situated in North Goa district and comes under North Goa Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open assembly constituency. The state of Goa has 40 assembly constituencies. According to data with the Election Commission of India, Mapusa has 25,659 registered voters. It comprises 12,755 male and 12,904 female registered voters.
In the last Goa assembly elections held in 2012, the BJP won this constituency by a grand margin of 10,169 votes. Francis D'souza, the winning candidate from BJP, got 14,955 votes. With 4,786 votes, the runner-up was Ashish Tulshidas Shirodkar of NCP. The voter turnout was 78.94 %.
