The BJP has named its candidates for 36 out of the 40 assembly segments of Goa for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. The party named 29 candidates in its first list and seven candidates in its second list. Incumbent chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza are among the 19 incumbent MLAs of the party figuring in the first list. Eight Cabinet Ministers from the outgoing BJP government have also been renominated. Ramrao Wagh, a professor in Goa University, is going to contest from North Goa's St. Andre, the seat held by his ailing elder brother and Deputy Speaker Vishnu Wagh.
