About Canacona Assembly Constituency

Canacona is constituency No. 40 of Goa legislative assembly. It is situated in South Goa district and comes under the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open assembly constituency. The state of Goa has 40 assembly constituencies.According to data with the Election Commission of India, Canacona has 31,822 registered voters. It comprises 15,957 male and 15,865 female registered voters.

In the last Goa assembly elections held in 2012, the BJP won this constituency by 2,704 votes. Ramesh Bombo Tawadka, the winning candidate from BJP, got 14,328 votes. The runner-up was Isidore Aleix of Congress who got 11,624 votes. The voter turnout was 83.56 %.
