MCD Election Results 2022

Delhi MCD Elections 2022

Delhi is anticipating the results of the MCD election, which will be made public on December 7, 2022. The BJP is already expected to win the elections, according to exit surveys. On the 7th, at 8 AM, the 250 wards' votes will begin to be counted.

Although the final results wouldn't be published until after 5 PM, the early trends would probably be evident by 11 AM. At 42 locations throughout the city, the votes would be counted. On Sunday, the polling for the MCD elections in the capital was completed without incident. On December 7, 2022, the results for the three MCD wings would be announced. In the capital, about 50% of eligible voters used their right to vote. The past fifteen years, these municipalities have been ruled by the BJP.

The BJP is riding on the confidence of its prior successful runs in the MCD, but the Aam Aadmi Party appeared to be proclaiming its triumph in the elections this time. Despite being local, the elections have attracted interest across the nation. While the congress party took a more relaxed approach to the elections, the AAP campaigned by exposing the corruption in the MCD and making freebie promises.

There would be 250 seats up for election. Adesh Gupta, the head of the Delhi BJP, has stated unequivocally that the citizens of Delhi currently understand what is best for them. Once again, Delhi's election promises to be interesting.

FORTY TWO PERCENT CROREPATIS IN THE MCD THIS TIME

The National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) produced a study just before the MCD elections that details the financial situation and criminal histories of the candidates running in the MCD election of 2022.

The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch undertook an examination of the 1,336 candidates' affidavits and found that 42% of the candidates are crorepatis. One hundred and ninety-one (10%) of the 1,336 applicants analysed had criminal complaints filed against them. Out of the 2,315 candidates in the 2017 MCD elections that were examined, 173 (7%) had criminal convictions filed against them.

Most crorepatis fighting the MCD elections are from the Congress party, followed by the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party.

Political Party Agenda to woo Voters in MCD Election 2022

Every political party running in the MCD elections is trying to persuade voters that they can give Delhi the greatest civic services and government. The three MCDs of Delhi will hold polls in only three weeks. 2012 saw the division of the MCD into the North, South, and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. NDMC and SDMC both have 104 council members, whereas EDMC only has 64. Municipal elections that were supposed to take place in April 2022 were postponed by the state Election Commission indefinitely in March 2022. The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, which would have reunified the three municipal corporations into a single entity, was passed by the Union Government on March 22. Formally, the consolidated Municipal Corporation of Delhi was established on 22 May 2022.

Since the BJP now controls the MCD, it is battling anti-incumbency and corruption allegations against it, while the Aam Aadmi Party, or AAP, is riding high on the triumph of the assembly elections and wants to take over MCD in order to have total control of Delhi. The Congress is likewise eager to establish itself in Delhi in order to recapture a small portion of its former splendour.

Delhi residents are currently inundated with offers, freebies, discounts, and other incentives. If the AAP is elected to office, Arvind Kejriwal has stated that it will make MCD corruption free among his ten promises to the capital. Additionally, Congress has promised 100% door to door garbage collection as one of its major agenda.

All the parties are promising to do away with the corruption and give Delhi an efficient administration which would respond to the grievances of the people. In all likelihood MCD Elections to the 250 wards in unified municipal corporations will be interesting to watch. The voting would take place on December 4, 2022 and the results will be announced on December 7, 2022.

Delhi MCD Election Issues

The Delhi Municipal Corporation elections are coming up, and there is already a frenzy of political activity in the nation's capital. 2012 saw the division of the MCD into the North, South, and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. NDMC and SDMC both have 104 seats, however EDMC only has 64 council members. The trifurcation was justified on the grounds that it would streamline government operations and improve civic services for Delhi residents. Unfortunately, very nothing occurred. Formally, the Delhi Unified Municipal Corporation from 22 May 2022.

It's a chaos throughout the city. The city's civic services are falling short of the increasing demands; piles of trash and overflowing drains are visible practically everywhere. Since hundreds of people perish every summer as a result of mosquito breeding in dirt and unclean surroundings, chikungunya and dengue have become everyday events. Another topic that is being discussed in this election is the lack of access to clean drinking water. Many colonies, particularly in East Delhi, go without water for days at a time and even when they do, the water is unfit for human consumption.

Despite BJP control over the MCD, the city has not received acceptable municipal services. Even the BJP high command has decided not to grant the current councillors tickets because of the widespread corruption and inaction among them. Both civic service and corruption are major issues in this race. What does the MCD seek from the public, after all? Indeed, the city needs to be better maintained, and the government needs to be free of corruption and responsive to the concerns of the populace. Is that asking too much?

About Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)

The civic organisations of Delhi maintain and manage the capital city. Eight districts of Delhi are managed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). There are 11 districts total in Delhi, with the remaining ones being managed by the Delhi Cantonment Board and the New Delhi Municipal Council.

Having a jurisdictional territory of 1,397 square kilometres, MCD is an independent authority. The capital's 11 million residents are served by the MCD.

The MCD has a difficult job because it serves one of the world's most densely inhabited places. It offers civic services to numerous villages that are located in both urban and rural areas as well as regularised aunthorized colonies, slums, and rural and urban villages.

MCD was established by a parliamentary act on April 7, 1958. Freedom fighter Guru Radha Kishan served as a councilor for MCD (formerly Delhi Municipal Committee) for the most years in a row. The city of Delhi's first elected mayor was Pt. Trilok Chand Sharma. The MCD has been steadfastly provided for Delhi's residents, and it is continually modernizing to keep up with the times and the city's expanding population. Some fundamental alterations to the structure and duties of MCD were made in 1993 as a result of an amendment to the Act. After the amendment, its governance and administration underwent notable change.

Delhi MCD Elections 2017

Delhi is eagerly awaiting the MCD election results that would be announced tomorrow. The exit polls have already predicted that the BJP is going to sweep the elections. The counting of votes for 270 wards will start at 8 AM tomorrow. Elections in two wards have been postponed due to the death of the candidate.

The early trends are likely to be available by 11 AM though the final result would only be announced after 5 PM. The votes would be counted at 35 centers across city. Over ninety thousand security personnel will be deployed at various counting centers.

The voting for the MCD elections in the capital was concluded peacefully on Sunday. The results for the three wings of the MCD would be declared on April 26, 2017. More than 54% voters exercised their franchise despite heat wave in the capital. For the last ten years these municipalities have been ruled by the BJP.

This time Aam Aadmi Party was a new entrant in the fray and was upbeat after its landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly. The BJP, on the other hand, is riding on the popularity of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its recent win in UP elections. Though the elections are local but they have generated countrywide interest and many people see it as a referendum on the work of Arvind Kejriwal. AAP went to polls exposing the corruption in the MCD and promising freebies while the approach of the congress party was rather laid back in the elections.

MCD’s three corporations are ruled by the BJP. In the present MCD, BJP has 153 councilors in the three corporations - North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

In the election there would be 272 seats at stake with NDMC and SDMC together accounting for 104 seats each. 64 seats are in under EDMC. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has made it clear that he was in favor of new faces in MCD. It is indeed going to be an interesting election in Delhi once again.

Political Party Agenda to woo Voters in MCD Election 2017

All the political parties in the fray in the MCD elections are out to convince the voters that they can provide the best civic services and administration to Delhi. Only three weeks are left when the three MCDs of Delhi would go to elections. The MCD was trifurcated in 2012 - North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. While NDMC and SDMC have 104 councilors each, EDMC has 64 councilors.

Since the MCD at present is dominated by the BJP, it is fighting anti-incumbency and corruption charges against it while the Aam Aadmi Party, AAP has success of the assembly elections behind it and wants to control MCD so that it would have complete control of Delhi. The Congress is also eager to get a foothold in Delhi so that it can revive its past glory.

At the moment the Delhites are being bombarded with one offer after another, freebies, concessions and so on. Arvind Kejriwal has announced that if AAP is voted to power it would do away with the residential property tax and waive arrears as well. On the same lines congress has promised to do away with the commercial tax. Swaraj India, led by Yogender Yadav has promised a pollution and garbage free Delhi.

All the parties are promising to do away with the corruption and give Delhi an efficient administration which would respond to the grievances of the people. In all likelihood MCD Elections to the 272 wards in three municipal corporations will be interesting to watch. The voting would take place on April 23, 2017 and the results will be announced on April 26, 2017.

Delhi MCD Election Issues

The elections of Municipal Corporation of Delhi are round the corner and the capital is already experiencing the flurry of political activity. The MCD was trifurcated in 2012 - North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. While NDMC and SDMC have 104 seats each, EDMC has 64 councilors. The pretext for the trifurcation was that it would simplify the administration and provide better civic services to the Delhites. Unfortunately not much happened.

The city is in a mess. The civic services are not matching up with the rising challenges - heaps of garbage and overflowing drainages can be seen almost everywhere in the city. The chikungunya and dengue have become a routine affair as hundreds of lives are lost every summer thanks to the breeding of mosquitoes in the filth and unhygienic conditions. Unavailability of drinking water is yet another issue which is doing the rounds in this election, many colonies, especially in the East Delhi, go without water for days and even the water they get is not drinkable.

The MCD has been controlled by the BJP but it has failed to provide satisfactory civic services to the city. Even BJP high command also acknowledges the rampant corruption and lack of action amongst its councilors and has decided to not to give the tickets to the sitting councilors. The corruption is the main issue in this election and so is the civic service. After all, what the people want from the MCD? Indeed better upkeep of the city and a corruption free administration that is sympathetic to the needs of people and responds to their complaints. Is that too much to ask?

About Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)

The capital city of Delhi is maintained and looked after by its civic agencies. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) takes care of eight districts of Delhi. Delhi in all has 11 districts the rest are looked after by New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Cantonment Board.

MCD is an autonomous body which has an area of 1,397 square kilometers in its jurisdiction. The MCD serves around 11 million people in the capital.

The task of MCD is a daunting one as it provides services to one of the most densely populated areas in the world. It provides civic services to rural and urban villages, regularized aunthorized colones, slums and many villages falling in both urban and rural areas.

MCD was formed on 7th of April, 1958 under and Act of Parliament. Freedom Fighter Guru Radha Kishan represented MCD ( initially Delhi Municipal Committee ) for most consecutive years as a Councilor. Pt. Trilok Chand Sharma was the first elected Mayor of Delhi. The MCD has been serving the people of Delhi relentlessly and is upgrading itself to the changing times and growing population.
