About Nalbari Assembly Constituency

Nalbari is constituency No. 59 of Assam legislative assembly. It is situated in Nalbari district and comes under the Mangaldoi Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. According to the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 1,58,527 registered voters. It comprises 85,005 male and 73,522 female registered voters.

The Congress won the Nalbari constituency in the 2011 Assembly elections. Jayanta Malla Baruah, the winning Congress candidate, bagged 39,896 votes. Baruah defeated his nearest contender by a margin of 8,223 votes. Alaka Sarma of AGP emerged the runner-up with 31,673 votes. The voter turnout was 74.16 %.
