About Karimganj North Assembly Constituency

Karimganj North is constituency No. 3 of Assam legislative assembly. It is situated in Karimganj district and comes under the Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency. It is an unreserved constituency. According to the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 1,57,832 registered voters. It comprises 82,531 male and 75,301 female registered voters.

The Congress won this seat in the 2011 Assembly elections by a convincing margin of 17,770 votes. Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, the winning Congress candidate, got 45,027 votes. The runner-up was Mission Ranjan Das of BJP who got 27,257 votes. The voter turnout was 68.71 %.
