About Bongaigaon Assembly Constituency

Bongaigaon is constituency No. 32 of Assam legislative assembly. It is situated in the district that goes by the same name. It comes under Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency. Bongaigaon is an open assembly constituency. According to the Election Commission of India, this constituency has 1,44,487 registered voters. It comprises 75,069 male and 69,418 female registered voters.

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won the Bongaigaon Assembly seat in the 2011 Assembly elections. Phani Bhusan Choudhury, the winning candidate from AGP, got 45,871 votes. Choudhury beat his nearest contender by a margin of 12,397 votes. With 33,474 votes, the runner-up was Prabhat Baisnab of Congress. The voter turnout was 77.92 %.
