About Cooch Behar Dakshin Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

Cooch Behar Dakshin is a legislative assembly segment of West Bengal. It lies in the Cooch Behar district and is a part of the Cooch
Behar (SC) Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency of the state. The Cooch Behar Dakshin constituency is represented in the state legislative assembly of West Bengal by Akshay Thakur of AIFB. He got 72,028 votes in the 2011 assembly elections and won the seat. AITC's Abdul Jalil Ahmed settled for 69,165 votes. A total of 2,01,229 people of the Cooch Behar Dakshin assembly constituency possess the right to vote, out of whom 1,04,636 are men and 96,592 are women.

The Cooch Behar Dakshin assembly segment of West Bengal covers Coochbehar(M); and Sutkabari, Chandamari, Putimari Fuleswari, Chilkirhat, Patchhara, Falimari, Moyamari, Ghughumari and Haribhanga gram panchayats of Cooch Behar-I community development block as per the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India - 2008.
