About Hapur Assembly Constituency

Hapur is constituency No. 59 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly.
It is part of Ghaziabad district in Upper Doab region of the state. It comes under the Meerut Lok Sabha constituency. Hapur Assembly constituency is reserved for scheduled castes.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Hapur has 2,96,679 registered voters. It comprises 1,65,587 male and 1,31,092 female registered voters.

The Congress defeated the BSP by a formidable margin of 22,152 votes to win this constituency in the 2012 Assembly elections. Gajraj Singh, the winning Congress candidate, got 77,242 votes. The nearest contender was Dharampal Singh of BSP who got 55,090 votes. The voter turnout was 62.38 %.
