Hamirpur is constituency No. 228 of Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly.
It is situated in Hamirpur district and comes under the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, Rampur Khas has 3,85,473 registered voters. It comprises 2,15,102 male and 1,70,367 female registered voters.

The BJP won this constituency by 7,824 votes in the 2012 Assembly elections. Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the winning BJP candidate, got 63,762 votes. The nearest contender was Fateh Muhammad Khan of BSP who got 55,938 votes. The voter turnout was 59.97 %.

About Hamirpur Assembly (Vidha Sabha) Constituency – Bye Elections 2014

The Hamirpur Assembly Constituency of Uttar Pradesh will have by-polls on September 13, 2014. The seat has been left vacant since the sitting MLA Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti from BJP quit the Hamirpur Vidhan Sabha seat after winning the Lok Sabha elections 2014 from Fatehpur.Congress candidate Keshav Babu Shivhare, BJP's Jagdish Vyas, SP's Shiv Charan Prajapati, CPI's Shyam Babu, Shakuntala Devi of BCSP (Bhartiya Chetna Shakti Party), Indra Kumar Ambedkar of ASP (Ambedkar Samaj Party), Rajendra Madhupiya of BMP (Bahujan Mukti Party) and six Independent candidates will contest in these 2014 by-polls. Different candidates are adopting different campaigning agendas in this constituency of over 3 lakh voters. SP's Shiv Charan Prajapati is targeting the rural areas whereas Congress’ Shivhare is trying to churn out votes on grounds of being a local & the social work he has done while concentrating on the minority, Dalit and rural regions. BCP’s Shakuntala Devi is already a known face in the area and hence her presence as a contender is likely to affect BJP’s, Congress and SP's share of votes.

The Assembly Elections were last held in the year 2012 when BJP’s Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had won the MLA seat after defeating BSP’s Fateh Muhammad Khan. Hamirpur has a total electorate of over 3 lakhs.
