The Demographic Bifurcation of the constituency is 84.36% Christians, 14.30% Hindus and 1.13% Muslims.

Samuel M Sangma candidate belonging to Independent Party won the seat in last election defeating Sengnal N Sangma of National People's Party by 2,242 Votes.
