About Kanhangad Assembly Constituency

Kanhangad is constituency No. 4 of Kerala legislative assembly. It is situated in Kasaragod district. It comes under the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. It was formed in 2008 following delimitation by the Election Commission of India.

According to the Election Commission of India, the Kanhangad Assembly constituency has 1,78,139 registered voters. It comprises 83,798 male and 94,341 female registered voters.

In the 2011 Assembly elections, this seat was won by the CPI. E.Chandrashekharan, the winning CPI(M) candidate, got 66,640 votes. The runner-up, M.C. Jose of Congress, got 54,462 votes. The winning margin was 12,178 votes. The voter turnout was 78.54 %.
