About Alathur Assembly Constituency

Alathur is constituency No. 60 of Kerala legislative assembly. This unreserved constituency is situated in Palakkad district and comes under the Alathur Lok Sabha constituency. The Alathur Lok Sabha constituency, which was formed in 2008 after delimitation exercise, is reserved for scheduled castes (SC).

According to the Election Commission of India, Alathur has a total of 1,52,827 registered voters. It comprises 75,074 male and 77,753 female registered voters.

In the 2011 assembly elections, CPI(M) candidate M.Chandran won this seat by a convincing margin of 24,741 votes. Chandran got 66,977 votes while his nearest contender, K.Kusala Kumar of KEC(M), got 42,236. The voter turnout was 75.95 %.
