About Jamtara Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Constituency

A city in the district by the same name, Jamtara is represented by JMM. It is also the district headquarters. Bishnu Prasad Bhaiya of JMM won the 2009 assembly elections by defeating Furkan Ansari of INC with a huge margin. Bishnu Prasad Bhaiya secured 62795 votes as against Ansari's 49952 votes. Jamtara assembly constituency belongs to Dumka Lok Sabha constituency. Jamtara had a population of 202,478 as per 2011 India census.
