About Panaji Assembly Constituency

Panaji is constituency No. 11 of Goa legislative assembly. It is situated in North Goa district and comes under the North Goa Lok Sabha constituency. It is an open constituency. The state of Goa has 40 assembly constituencies.

According to data with the Election Commission of India, this assembly constituency has 21,355 registered voters. It comprises 10,404 male and 10,951 female registered voters.

In the 2012 Goa assembly elections, the BJP secured this important constituency by a convincing margin of 6,068 votes. Senior BJP leader and former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar was the winning candidate with 11,086 votes. The runner-up was Yatin Parekh of Congress who got 5,018 votes. The voter turnout was 78.85 %.
